Reminder: No go on Hartnell meet

There is no Kearney invite this Saturday. Use the time to recover and get ready for Del Mar, our last dual meet! Also, if you see them on campus - make sure to wish several of the athletes good luck for the CCS Top 8 meet on Friday. Otherwise, see you at practice.

Quicksilver Invite

Saturday we had the quicksilver invite which I would say went pretty good... I always wish we had more PRs but there were a lot of good performances.

Here are the results: Quicksilver RESULTS

Here are some Photos: Quicksilver Photos

Some Highlights:

Our Boys 4 by100 that was just assembled about 18 hours earlier ran a our fastest time of the year with a 48.46 (Kyle-Afari-Drew-Chris) they finished third overall.

Emily Guthormsen followed that up with a 3rd place finish in the 1600m and ran her season best 5:34 which is just 2 seconds off of her PR run at CCS Semis last year. Later, she ran a 4 second PR and led the race from start to finish to win the 800 with a time of 2:32.

Kalum Bergstrom was able to run a 4:41 in the 1600 to finish in first place and get his first PR in the 1600 since last year. He also PR'd in the HJ with a leap of 5'8" which was also good enough for first place.

James Gabbard had an off day in the long jump but ran a great 800 (getting some negative splits 63-62) to finish with a 2:05 and a 4 second PR. Like Emily he led the race from start to finish.

Chris Armstrong, while in the middle of high jumping, was able to sneak over and run a PR in the 100m with a 12.91.

In the 400 Daniel Gonzalez, despite fighting the last 100 meters ran a PR of 56.6, which was good for a 4th place finish.

Afari La-Anyane set a school record in the 65 hurdles with a 9.54 to win easily, followed that up with a 4 second PR in the 300 hurdles to take home first in that event as well.

Paige Frierson was able to get a PR in the 300 hurdles after many attempts with a 54.12 and that was good enough to win the meet (from out in lane 8).

The boys 4 by 4 (Kyle-Daniel-James-Kalum) ran a 3:45 despite the fact that they had no one to run with after Kyles first leg. Considering the fact that none of them got PRs they won by 12 seconds. As they get more competition that time should continue to drop.

The biggest PR of the day was set by Carolina Martinez who ran the 3200 for the 2nd time ever and improved her time from 13:31 to 13:07.

Our 7 frosh soph boys were able to win the meet with over 30 schools competing (in a land slide too) 74 to 42 points for second. PRs are the most important thing, but it feels good to be rewarded they have stepped up and run against varsity athletes all year so had some fun going against people there own age. It was nice to see that they are on there way. Lots to still be done this year though, we are barely in April. - CM

Welcome back

Ok well as most of you know I let the website die last year. From here on out though I am planning on contributing to this blog after each meet, it will also be a place to see results from meets and photos and anything else. So here goes. - CM
