Next Year

Just want to say, I hear a lot of you already talking about next year. I am glad you are excited and no doubt I am excited for the future as well. (We had 9 CCS qualifiers and all of them are coming back next year: 1 junior, 7 sophomores and 1 freshman) I just think this year was great and it would be a shame if you didn't even give yourself sometime to enjoy it because you already started thinking of 2013. Look back at the PRs you got this year, think about the work that went into them. Pat yourself on the back. It was a great year. If you don't take anytime to enjoy it, then really what is the point?

CCS Semifinals Recap

Another great day on the track... lets go through everything:

The day started off with Emily Guthormsen (Soph) running a 9 second PR in the 1600 (79,83,83,79 splits) she went from a 5:31.8 to a 5:22.28.

Afari La-Anyane (soph) got not just a big PR but a wind legal big PR of 15.37 which was also good enough to buy him another 6 days of track.

In the high jump, Kalum Bergstrom (soph) jumped great but the fact that he only started high jumping 6 weeks ago and the starting height being at his PR caught up to him. He was jumping plenty high, just couldn't get the hips up.

In the 800, Emily came back and just missed out on her PR, but considering she went from a 2:31 to 2:26 last week a 2:27 is a nice way to back that up, for her 2nd fastest 800 ever.

Also in the 800, James Gabbard (Soph) wanted nothing more than to break 2 minutes in the 800 and he went out and got that with a 1:59.20 which was our 3rd PR of the day. (It also lowered his own FS school record)

Finally with the 4by400s ... I posted the girls video and the guys video is uploading.
Girls. Paige Frierson (Fr) led off and went from a 65.1 to 63.5 for a huge PR, she started this year at 74 seconds and has just continued improving all year. Emily ran second and would have had a PR but Annalise ran into some traffic in the handoff and since it happened before the line that time goes to Emily. So she got a 64.0 and her PR is 63.6. After pushing through some traffic Annalise DiSalvo (Jr) ran a really aggressive 200 (as opposed to last week) and it paid off with a PR (62.5). Finally Carolina Martinez (Sr) stepped in for Alissa Pham because Alissa broke her wrist in 2 places last week at soccer. She kept the PRs coming dropping her fastest 400 from 74 to 72. Our team ran a 4:16 last week and that was with Alissa running a 64. So swapping a 64 for a 74 we were hoping for a 4:26 or faster and they ran a 4:22. Great race.

The guys didn't have as good of a race as the girls, but they didn't run poorly by any means. Kyle Robertson (So) led of and tied his PR with a 54.6, Daniel Gonzalez (So) ran within .3 of his PR on the second leg considering the confusion because the kids took being locked in place that they couldn't move forward (makes sense when you see the video, Daniel and James have to go way out to lane 5) Seems like James time was the one that suffered the most running over a second from his PR and Kalum finished it off with a 52.9 which is close to his PR of 52.6. They missed out on the FS school record but since it was their own record they were trying to break I think they will be ok with that.

We are currently at 273 PRs which is our most ever. (257 last year was the old record) Great, Great job. Obviously I am happy with the times but I really liked everyones attitude, I have seen the shift from worrying about places to worrying about PRs over the course of the season.

Here are the Results

Also like I said before there are some pictures posted as well as the videos of the two 4by4s.
